May the Fourth be with you, Cinco de Mayo, and a Monday.

Saturday May 4th.
Woke up early and skyped with my parents for 2 hours. Rob and I went out for a walk. We were planning on seeing Iron Man 3 in 4D. But when we got to the theatre, it was sold out. We decided we would see if anyone else wanted to go during the week. We sent out a message. Nobody wanted to. So Rob and I are going to go see it on Tuesday. We ate lunch in the mall. For lunch, I got instead of Chili Cheese Fries I got Kimchi Beef and Cheese fries. A Korean twist to one of my favorite foods.
We walked back to Bobo. By the time we got home, Sarah sent us a message about a show she wanted to go see in Hongdae. It was like a battle of the bands. But the bands were Korean. I had a blast. I had no idea what the lyrics were, but some of them had great sound.  With one of the bands there was even a little mosh pitting going on. Rob joined then I did. It was great jumping around. The mosh pits here are so much more tame than some I have been in. Granted, the big white guy was a target. Instead of punches like in the US, it was just playful shoving and jumping into eachother. It was definitely fun. I still was not good at it. F=MA.  A small Korean trying to jump into me just does not end up will for him.
After that we went to Club Vera. One of Sarahs friends works there. We got in for free. I was not in a clubbing mode, but I went anyway. Wow. Lame. The DJ was horrible. The beat was not constant, he could not transition, there was too much dead time, and the music he was making was very juvenile. I do not know much about DJ'ing but I have heard armatures do far better. Also, everyone was facing the stage. People were not dancing like a club in the US, they were treating it like a show.  So that was awkward. There are also social expectations when dancing in a club. It seemed almost like a middle school dance with groups of girls and groups of guys. Also, I only had 2 drinks going into it, but I was still one of the only people dancing and having a good time. There were several groups of people trying to liven up the atmosphere, the enjoyed what I was doing. I have no problem dancing and making a fool out of myself. But I can only keep that up for so long before I get tired of it. Well... I got tired of it.
We all left and headed back to Bobo, cause the alarm is going off at 715 Sunday morning for our charity walkathong.

Sunday May 5th.
Woke up early for the walkathon. The walkathon was awesome! It was walking around the neighborhood I walked around with old Sam. I wish my ECC would have paid for the Korean teachers to go too. It would have been a great bonding experience. We just had to walk around to get stamps on our map. When we brought it back to the finish line, we received a beer and a gift bag (which had a banana  water, towel). On the walk I won a 50000 gift card. But it is only redeemable for not much. But it was still fun to win. There was a costume contest (which I did not know about). The winner got an all expenses paid trip to China. If I had known, I would have easily won. 2 ninjas that had a lame costumes won. Very frustrating.
It was Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo is when I graduated 6 years ago. Holy crap. 6 years. It is very unbelievable for me to think of that. It does not seem like that long ago.
Anyway, after the event, we all went to get Mexican food. Mexican food here is okay. I will quote how I put it on my facebook "Mexican food here is overpriced and not very filling. There are some Korean influenced dishes (with Bulgogi or Kimchi or others). Both I went to were more a la carte, where if you order a burrito, you only get a burrito. If you want anything else, you have to order it separately. No mexican rice. In a country where rice is served with every meal, you could not order rice with Mexican food. I went to one place, Julios, a little nicer, and flavor-wise it was a mix between On the Border and Qudoba. The second place I went to was Dos Tacos a mix between Taco Cabana and Chili's. In all it was similar to the not good Tex Mex in NYC (Hard to find and not authentic), but this was even more expensive" By the time we got done with eating, even if I had gone straight to church, I would have been late. I didn't
go. I was hot, tired, sweaty, and sunburnt. I got home and napped.
We had all talked about going and getting more Mexican for dinner. We told Eva. Anyway, she got here, and I heard from nobody else. So Eva and I went to get Mexican food at Dos Tacos. It was okay too. The original locations (which was supposed to be awesome) moved. The new location was in more of a food court. So instead of being like a restaurant, it was more of a fast food experience. It was good though. We then went and grabbed a banana beer at a place called Vent. A banana beer is a beer with a little banana flavoring and a piece of banana. It is a little sweet for my tasted, but c'est la vie. I got home and went to bed.

Monday May 6th.
School. I woke up too early. I took the window covering down because I wanted my window open. Its great except now once again the sunlight wakes me up too early. I really need to find curtains instead of trying to cheat the system. It does not work well for me.
We had an observation class today at school. I was observed wtih my France class. We are having an open class in several weeks (where parents get to come watch us teach). The observation class was where Louise and Ronnie watch us teach the lesson we will do in front of the parents. I was pretty nervous about it, but it seemed to go well. I will be observed on Tuesday with my Denmark class. I might see if I can push it back. We just started our story and I dont think my kids will be able to do any part of the planned assignment yet. Nothing else exciting happened. In all, today was slightly boring. Though when I say boring, I do not mean I am board. I just mean it was pretty routine and nothing major happened. Nothing good, nothing bad. It was just what it was. I still feel pretty worn out though. It was a Monday so all of the kids had energy.
I was going to go by a dollar store after work, but did not. So I just came home and have been relaxing with my window opened. I think I will watch an episode of West Wing, study Korean, and go to bed.
I know I have not had a picture update, and will do one of those soon. I have pictures from the field trip, the charity event, the concert, the club... soon...
